Hero or Villain? Hero, or as heroic as Dipper could possibly be anyway. No matter the adventure or mystery Dipper is trying to solve, he always ultimately does the right thing.

Personality: For only being 12 years old, Dipper Pines is remarkably smart and intuitive for his age. Logical and organized, Dipper is one who will scrutinize everything to the most minute detail to make sure it's absolutely perfect, or will go according to plan. Most of the time he can be a little over-kill in his heavy organizing, but regardless Dipper's main goal is to solve all of the mysteries that are hidden in Gravity Falls. If there's a mystery or a puzzle that has been left unsolved, Dipper won't rest until it HAS been solved. Thanks to this he's almost always restless and searching for the next mystery to uncover, but even then that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to have fun when the opportunity arises.

Beyond being super smart and clever, Dipper also constantly goes out of his way to appear like a mature adult. He seems to treat adolescense as a thing to be embarrassed of, often getting flustered when people think he or something he's done is cute or adorable. He just wants everyone- especially Wendy, who he has a massive crush on- to respect him and see him as an adult and the manliest of men, instead of an adorable child.

Dipper has shown many times over that he is protective of his family, but Mabel in particular. When his twin sister is in danger, he will do just about anything to help her out or to get her out of harm's way, even if that means putting himself in danger to do it.

On occassion, Dipper can let a situation get to his head, and it leads to him being selfish sometimes. He's not above using Gravity Falls' powers and mysteries to get something he wants. In "Double Dipper", Dipper used a mysterious and apparently magical copier to make clones of himself to impress Wendy, to disastrous results. In "The Time Traveler's Pig", Dipper used a time machine to go back in time repeadetly to fix a mistake that caused him to ruin his chances of ever winning Wendy's affections. When he finally succeeded, the timeline was affected as well, causing Mabel to lose her beloved pig, Waddles. Though Dipper can be selfish in these sorts of situations, he always ends up doing the right thing no matter how difficult, and ended up repairing the time stream so Mabel could get Waddles back.

Anything else?
-Dipper is...not strong at ALL, physically. If he happened to get into a fight it probably wouldn't take much to seriously hurt him, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't use his wits to try and get out of danger.
-As much as he's going to act differently or try to deny it, Dipper's still very much a child. He's stronger than most and braver than most, but even he can only take so much.
-Mostly Dipper's going to be friendly with just about everyone, if not incredibly suspicious or cautious around them when he first meets them. He has to over analyze everything you know, that's just the way he is.

Third person: After staying up a better part of the night pouring through Volume 3, he hadn't gotten any of the answers he'd been looking for. Frustrated, Dipper shut the book roughly, coughing at the bit of dust that rose up from the pages. He'd nearly read the book from cover to cover, but hadn't found anything to help explain how he ended up in this strange new world in the first place.

"Come on, there's gotta be something." He mumbled to himself, idly tracing his fingers over the insignia of the golden hand on the cover of the book. Even if he had found clues, it's not like he really had any way to document them. With nobody here really to talk to, it made things that much harder. So, with a heavy sigh, Dipper tucked the book back into his vest before turning over in the grass, staring silently at the stars twinkling above. He didn't even have to close his eyes to imagine that he's just...back home like normal, maybe camping in the woods or something.

That is of course until he glances off to the side, and spots a rock with a face, or sees a dragon slowly circling a mountain in the distance. Not like he'd be all that surprised to see something similar in Gravity Falls, but at least it TRIED to be inconspicuous about it.

Though really, as excited as Dipper is to explore this place and uncover all of it's mysteries...he'd be lying if he said he wasn't feeling terribly homesick. He can't help but wonder if Grunkle Stan or Mabel have noticed his absence by now, or if they're worried about him. Surely they are, but...

With a grimace he turns over, pulling his hat down a little. Much more thinking about that and he'll surely drive himself insane with worry. So instead, he decides it will just be best to try and get some sleep.

Maybe he'll have a better plan by morning.
